Ao Sane Beach, Phuket (province) Thailand

Ao Sane Beach, Phuket (province) Thailand

Ao Sane is a rocky beach on the southwest coast of Phuket and is one of the island’s best little secrets. Diving and snorkeling on this beach is excellent and the beach features are best summarized by the word “quiet”. Ao Sane is lined with enough trees on its edge to provide shelter from the sun at any time of the day, and there is also a large sandy area for sun lovers.

This 200 meter long beach welcomes visitors who return regularly during the high season. It can also feel like a small community with a range of rudimentary bungalows and restaurants.

To get to Ao Sane, head to Nai Harn Beach and follow the road below Nai Harn, a 5-star hotel at the northern end of the beach. After crossing the hotel grounds, climb the hill and you will find a small car park with a road leading to the beach. Although it is possible to drive up this hill, most visitors choose to park at the top and get off because it is difficult to climb.

Ao Sane Beach Facilities
For many, AoSane’s appeal lies in its robustness and simple natural appeal. No sunbeds or bodyboard rentals, jet skis or kayaks, no lost hawkers. On the other hand, in the middle of the beach, there is a shower and toilet next to the restaurant.
Ao Sane isn’t crowded, but there are shaded spots taken by early risers. Be sure to bring your own towel.

Ao Sane Beach Restaurant
The restaurant at Ao Sane Beach is a cheerful place with cheap and delicious food and an international bohemian atmosphere. Meals are served from breakfast until late at night. Five minutes away, the Nai Harn dining range ranges from snacks purchased at convenience stores to simple beach restaurants to fine dining in The Nai Harn.

Ao Sane Beach Activities
Due to the rocks on the beach, the rough texture of the sand, and the steep slopes towards the sea, there are not many sports such as volleyball and soccer at Aose Beach. But it’s definitely a great snorkeling and diving spot. There are no masks or fins for rent on the beach, so please bring your own mask and fins.

The underwater life here is extraordinarily abundant. At low tide, there is a waterway through the rocks that leaves at the eastern end of the beach (towards Nai Harn).
